Ingersoll Council decided that OPP would be the best in handling a traffic and safety problem on Victoria Street.
INGERSOLL - Business is booming for Midtown Motors out of Ingersoll, but it's causing safety concerns from the public.
The low Canadian dollar has increased business for the auto dealer resulting in constant unloading and loading of shipments on Victoria Street. Citizens are worried the parking of the large trucks in no-parking zones could be a danger to motorists in the area.
Ingersoll CAO William Tiegert presented the issue to council Monday night, who determined the matter would be handled by the OPP.
Tiegert said the increased business is due to a low Canadian dollar, "because of that they are having high volume turnovers in their location and their having trucks come regularly to come unload and load vehicles..."
A number of complaints from the public to council prompted the discussion. At issue was the high volume of traffic running through Victoria street that could possibly cause an accident.
Midtown Motors has operated out of Ingersoll since 1938.
