During the current measles outbreak, Southwestern Public Health is offering a vaccination clinic.
SWPH - Southwestern Public Health will be offering a measles vaccination clinic.
Starting today you can book an appointment, and appointments will begin tomorrow. The clinic is for the first-dose of the measles vaccine and will only be for infants aged 6 to 11 months. The clinic is only open to those who live in Oxford County, Elgin County and St. Thomas.
Manager of Vaccine Preventable Diseases for Southwestern Public Health, Jaime Fletcher says why it is important to get your infants vaccinated.
"A single dose of measles vaccine offers 85 to 95% protection against the illness for infants. With the outbreak we are experiencing, this clinic offers local parents an option to protect their child quickly”"
The clinic is being held at 1230 Talbot Street, which is the health unit's office in St. Thomas. You will have to have an appointment, and any appointments booked that don't meet the age range or region will be cancelled.
Parents or guardians will be able to book appointments by going to Southwestern Public Health's website for appointments throughout the month of March.
