A foundation out of IMT in Ingersoll has helped over 65 Canadian soldiers and their families. That's why the founders of the Military Casualty Support Foundation, Theresa and Jim Hacking, have received Diamond Jubilee Medals. "We started the foundation in 2006. I believe we're unique because we deal directly with the Department of Defence, we received cases from them. Then we have a meeting to decide if the funds are eligible to send out, then we send them directly to the soldiers," said founder of the foundation Theresa Hacking (in photo on far right). Director of Casualty Support Management for the Canadian Forces Colonel Gerry Blais presented them with the medals. "They've made an enormous difference to the 65 families that they've helped. The flexibility and the ease with which we can deal with them and get results for the men and women of the armed forces is beyond reproach," said Colonel Blais (in the middle of photo). "All of the operating costs are carried on by IMT, therefore the benefit is huge too. It's not like a lot of other organizations where there are administration costs. All of those costs are something we take care of at IMT," said Co-Owner of IMT Jim Hacking (in photo on far left). Past donations have totalled over $400,000, which has been used to pay for such things as accessible furniture, counselling, and home modifications.
