Oxford OPP take down indoor grow op and seize roughly $4 million dollars in marijuana and cocaine.
NORWICH - Oxford OPP have taken down a massive sophisticated indoor marijuana grow operation in Norwich Township.
Members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit, Oxford County OPP, Oxford County Property Crimes Unit, West Region ERT, Organized Crime Unit, and West Region Forensic Identification Services, executed a a search warrant at a property on Oxford Road 55.
Police say they found large amounts of marijuana and cocaine at this location. The combined estimated street value of the drugs is an astonishing $4 million dollars. Police also seized vehicles, trafficking equipment, cash and a restricted hand gun at the location. The combined estimated value of the offence related property is approximately $120,000.00.
Constable Lisa Naranschik tells Heart FM this was a high sophisticated indoor marijuana grow op and this is one the biggest drug busts she has ever seen in Oxford County.
"In the 13 years that I have been here at this detachment, I don't recall anything this substantial at all with $4 million dollars in controlled substances that were seized and not to mention another $120,000 in vehicles, trafficking equipment and cash."
Arrest warrants will be sought for several individuals for the following offences: production of marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of cocaine, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a prohibited device, and unsafe storage of a firearm and ammunition.
The investigation is continuing.
