WOODSTOCK - A married couple from Woodstock are $100,000 richer after winning the Encore prize from the Lotto Max draw last month.
Mary and Joseph Phillips bought their winning ticket from the Gateway Casinos in Woodstock on Nellis Street. Mary and Joseph have been married for 31 years and were at home having morning tea when they discovered their win. Joseph says he was silent and shocked when they realized what happened.
"Mary looked at me and asked, what did we win? I had to show her, I didn't believe it! This is absolutely terrific – it has come at the perfect time in our lives."
Mary, an office administrator, and Joseph, a retiree, plan to use their winnings to indulge in a kitchen renovation.
"It hasn't been touched in over 40 years! It will be so nice to enjoy a beautiful, modern kitchen."
