Executive Director Marc Roberts is ready to retire after being with the Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre for 8 years.
WOODSTOCK - The Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre is losing their Executive Director Marc Roberts.
Roberts has decided to sail off into the sunset after 8 years with the OECYC. He tells Heart FM he has made a lot of memories at his job and was really impressed with the community after the recent suicide crisis.
"People and agencies worked together, so you had the police, the hospitals, the Children's Aid Society, the three school boards, Community Health Centre, CMHA, everybody pulled together and seeing what the youth did as well and they formed groups and what really impressed me is the way everyone is listening to what the young people have to say and acting on what they have to say and I just full kudos to Woodstock on how they reacted to what's happened."
Roberts said it was a rewarding job working with the youth in our community and it was also tough as well, especially when dealing with tragedies. He is looking forward to his retirement and already has a project in mind.
"Organize my record collection, I have 5,000 pieces of vinyl, I really need to organize them and I have that on my mind for years and we have 1 grandson who lives in Kitchener Waterloo so I will get to spend more time with him."
