Prosecutors in New Mexico will be charging Alec Baldwin and a weapons specialist with involuntary manslaughter after the fatal shooting on the set of the movie Rust back in 2021.
NEW MEXICO - Actor Alex Baldwin is now facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter, following a fatal shooting on a movie set in New Mexico.
Halyna Hutchins passed away in October of 2021, after she was shot during rehearsals for the movie Rust. It happened while they were at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe.
Officials say Baldwin was pointing a pistol at Hutchins when it went off. Director Joel Souza was also injured and Baldwin has described the incident as a tragic accident.
Prosecutors announced the charge against Baldwin earlier today. Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the armorer who oversaw firearms on the movie set, is also being charged with involuntary manslaughter.
