A community group of volunteers is trying to raise $95,000 to complete work on the Hickson Trail.
HICKSON - A community group of volunteers is working hard to finish the Hickson trail.
The trail runs along the former CNR rail bed abandoned over 50 years ago.
Chairman of the Trail Committee Ross Campbell says they need to raise money for grade adjustments and clearing.
"We need to raise $95,000 all together. Now we've already got commitments for $20,000. What we really have to do - there are two bridges that need to be put in."
Campbell thinks the trail would be well utilized if they can raise the funds.
"It's certainly a nature lovers' paradise there's often quite a number of birds and sometimes a few animals if you go biking through it or walking through it. And with bicycling one of the benefits is it's flat all the way from Woodstock to Hickson."
Overall the work on the trail is expected to last 2 - 3 months in the fall.
People interested in donating are encouraged to call Campbell at 519-616-2604
