To acknowledge Crime Prevention Week Woodstock Police conducted several checks over the past week
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police were preaching lock it or lose it as part of Crime Prevention Week.
They are reminding people to always keep your doors locked in your vehicle even if your just going to go into a store for a few minutes. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM police have been visiting local parking lots checking cars to help spread the message.
"So what we do is we will do a check or inspection of your car, check to see if the doors are locked, check to see if you have personal property visible and then I will do a little checklist with you on how you can keep your personal property and vehicle safe."
VanLeeuwen says another tip they offer is to never valuables out in plain sight, always leave them in the trunk or tucked away under the seat.
