TILLSONBURG - Youth in Tillsonburg will have an opportunity to connect with other young people, resources and community members.
The Multi-Service Centre will be putting on a Get Connected Youth VIP Networking event inside the Livingston Centre in Tillsonburg.
Employment Services Manager Maureen Vandenberghe says the event is targeted for anyone ages 15 to 29.
"The topic this Tuesday is "Being Future Ready." So they're going to discuss the changes in jobs and how young people can prepare themselves for those changes."
Vandenberghe adds the purpose of the program is to help youth feel more connected in their communities, more connected with each other, employers, services and resources in their own community in order to be able to foster that growth within themselves and in their community as a whole.
Tomorrow night's event will be going on once a month. The MSC's Youth Job Connect program recently received a $35,000 donation from the Royal Bank of Canada Future Launch to run this initiative, and they are also a sponsor of the event.
Vandenberghe says establishing a connection is among the important factors for those in attendance.
"For this topic, it's really them understanding all the changes that are going on with the labour market information, so that they can prepare themselves too for all the changes coming down the path with new jobs, jobs disappearing."
The event will be inside rooms C and D of the Livingston Centre. The presentation will be held at 5 o'clock and food and refreshments and networking will follow.
The MSC says for those interested in attending were to RSVP by October 25th. Event registration can be found online.
It's free and goes from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
