Katharine Carnegie will be competing in the Scot Dance Canada Championship Series next month.
WOODSTOCK - A student from WCI will represent Ontario at the Scot Dance Canada Championship Series.
Katharine Carnegie is 17-years-old, and she has been highland dancing ever since she was three.
She got 1st Runner Up at the Ontario Closed Championship in Toronto this past weekend, so now she's going to compete at Nationals in Kamloops, British Columbia.
"It's very exciting and a little bit stressful but I am so excited because it's going to be an amazing experience where I get to dance with all of my friends at my studio who also did really well at provincials. It's going to be a great experience and I am so excited."
The national tournament will be taking place July 7th to July 11th, so that's a month of preparation for Carnegie
"I am working very closely with my dance teacher, practicing every day, and building up strength and technique. Also mentally preparing because it's stressful, things can happen, and you want to be super prepared."
Carnegie trains at the Jacqueline Smith School of Dance in Milton.
