Oxford's MPP is pleased Dalton McGuinty has resigned as Liberal leader, but isn't happy that he's also shut down Parliament. Ernie Hardeman says there's little doubt in his mind, McGuinty resigned as scandal continued to grow around the shutting down of two gas plants in Ontario. The government was being investigated for Contempt of Parliament over the controversy. Hardeman, however, says putting Ontario's government at a standstill is a concern. "We're very concerned that they would deem their problems, and their need to hide the information would make them prorogue parliament so nothing can happen until they get their house in order. It's not justifiable at all. All the things that could have been done to try and get confidence back in our economy and get our economy growing again comes to a complete standstill." Many are asking the question of how does McGuinty's resignation trickle down in changing the political landscape in Ontario. Hardeman isn't shy in saying it does make forcing an election an easier decision. "This is a 3rd term Premier and it changes to the fact that the present government will not be led by someone that has won three times. The present government will be led by a new person. And so I think the dynamics within the party system will change as one proceeds to move forward to change the government."
