Parts of Oxford County will see two library branches re-open for full service. Both the Ingersoll and Tillsonburg branches will re-open for full service next month.
OXFORD COUNTY - As we reopen under Stage 3, there will be parts of Oxford County that will see a few libraries re-open as well.
Both the Ingersoll and Tillsonburg branches will re-open for full service. CEO Chief Librarian of Oxford County Library Lisa Miettinen says while these two branches will be open to the public, there will be safety measures in force.
"We will have to maintain strict occupancy levels, we will have to maintain physical distancing but people will be able to enter to the library, browse the shelves, use the computers and sit down because we understand people come to the library for a wide variety of reasons so it's important for them to visit."
Miettinen adds there are so many seats that will be made available, hand sanitizer will also be available and people are asked to self-screen at the door. She says people are looking forward to having the experience of going to a library again.
"I think people are looking forward to coming back in and accessing the services that they've relied upon on in the past, such as computer use, being able to print and copy and even just to connect with people. The library is a place where you can be assured of a smile and friendly greeting and to meet up with people, and as long as it can be done safely, I think it will be one way of bringing people back together again.”
She adds the Ingersoll and Tillsonburg branches will re-open sometime in August, while the other branches in Oxford County will continue to do curbside pick up for at least a few months.
