The week long Juno Award festivities had a little touch of Woodstock flare.
WOODSTOCK - When local florist Erik Wesseling got the call to design floral's for the JUNO Awards, he didn't hesitate.
The 20 year floral veteran booked his flights the next day for British Columbia where he stayed for exactly one week.
Wesseling says his designs have taken him all over the world, including England, Thailand and the USA. He says he is happy to tell people his home country is Holland but that he has made Woodstock Ontario his family's home.
"It's very fun to know that I am from a small town, that people from a small town do travel and participate in extraordinary things, and it's all local talent that we have."
Wesseling has been the owner and operator of the Floral Buds and Design Shop for over 17 years.
The week long JUNO Award festivities had a little touch of Woodstock flare in all of the lush arrangements that would have been seen at one of the many galas, press conferences and backstage dressing rooms for the stars.
It's the second time the Woodstonian has got the call to design for the Canadian award show. This year he was with a team of about 15 florists as one of the lead designers.
Wesseling says he has big plans, and hopes this JUNO show is not his last.
"Next year the JUNO Awards will be in Ontario, so I will go and bid on that to see if I can get that contract, the odds are pretty good I think."
Wesseling adds that the theme for all of the arrangements for the stars was "British Columbia Green", with very little actual flowers, and more earthy moss type greenery.
The 2019 48th JUNO Awards along with all JUNO Week festivities will be held in London March 11 – March 17, 2019.
