Two models of a space heater sold at Loblaws stores such as Zehrs and No Frills are being recalled over fire hazard concerns.
OXFORD COUNTY - Everyday Essentials space heaters have been recalled by Loblaws due to overheating concerns. Loblaw Companies Limited say they received two reports of the space heaters overheating this can result in smouldering or flaming. Luckily no injuries have been reported. This is the second time the same heaters under a different brand have been recalled for the same problem. The space heaters are sold at Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Zehrs, Valu-mart, Your Independent Grocer and other Loblaw banner stores in Ontario.
Two heat settings have been recalled, "750 watt and the 1500 watt sold at the Loblaws stores across Canada-- the space heater may overheat posing a fire hazard," said Fire Prevention Coordinator for Woodstock Lisa Woods.
The Woodstock Zehrs was contacted and confirmed that they did not sell the product. A call to the store manager at the Tillsonburg Zehrs would not confirm if the faulty space heaters were ever sold at that store and the call was redirected to the Loblaw's head office. At the time this story was published no call was returned from head office.
Woods said the product should have been removed from the shelves immediately.
The model number of the affected products is as follows, FH03, UPC 0 58703 01922 5 and ETL certification file number 3125218, which is printed on the label found on the bottom of the heater. Products can be returned at Loblaw's stores for a full refund.
