The Bard's Bus Tour is coming to the Ingersoll Cheese Museum for two performances of Living with Shakespeare this weekend.
INGERSOLL - It's a chance to see William Shakespeare in a whole new light.
Driftwood Theatre's Bard's Bus Tour will be stopping at the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum this weekend for two performances of Living with Shakespeare.
Jeremy Smith is one of the playwrights and he's also the only performer in the show. He says it's all about his relationship with Shakespeare and how it has changed over a 35-year span. This also happens to be the last Bard's Bus Tour for Driftwood Theatre.
"I knew that I wanted to be able to say thank you and in a way goodbye to this famous playwright and to audiences. I wanted to be able to say here is a wonderful story that encapsulates all of the time we have spent together, and that is where the idea for this play came from."
The Bard's Bus Tour began on August 5th and it has stopped in Kingston, Prince Edward County, Quinte West, Peterborough, Oshawa, and Pickering since then.
Smith is blown away by the response he has received from the show so far.
"It's one thing to put on a piece of Shakespeare's work, present it, and have people respond to it. It's another thing to dump your heart and soul into something and give the audience a story that's very personal. People have just been wonderfully gracious and it's been really overwhelming."
He says the show is family-friendly, and you don't have to be a fan of Shakespeare to enjoy it.
Both of the shows in Ingersoll this weekend will begin at 7:30 p.m. and you can purchase tickets online here. You can also pay your admission at the Cheese Museum before the show and they have four different prices ranging from $15 to $75.
Smith recommends bringing your own chair or blanket to sit on, but you will be able to rent chairs there if need be.
