The application deadline is this Friday, March 3rd!
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is excited to open its doors to the Citizens Police Academy.
It's the final week to get your applications in, the deadline is this Friday, March 3rd!
Application packages must include a resume and WPS application form, which can be found online here. Once filled out you can drop your application off at the police station located at 615 Dundas St. You may also email you application to recruiting@woodstockpolice.ca with the subject line "Citizens Police Academy Application"
Shaylyn Jackson, Community Service Officer for the WPS is ecstatic to be part of the program this year.
"It's probably one of my favourite programs we offer. It more or less gives citizens a behind the scenes look at what we do as a police service and how we support and serve the community. So, what would happen is once a week for approximately 10 weeks in the evenings we would have the members selected for the program participate in both in class and hands on presentations about the various services and units within the Woodstock Police Service."
The program is open to Woodstock residents who have an interest in their local police service or who are interested in learning more about community safety. With a mixture of in-class and hands on learning, participants will engage with the various services and departments at the WPS, explore challenges police forces face and get hands on experience of the policing profession.
The Citizens Police Academy will open on March 23rd. Classes are scheduled every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
