The cut off for donations to the 'Clean Out Your Closet' event is tomorrow!
WOODSTOCK - If you are looking to make room in your closet for some new winter fashions, now is the time to do it so all those fabulous finds can go to someone who needs them.
The CMHA Oxford is putting on the Clean Out Your Closet Event for the third time. Community Engagement & Volunteer Development Coordinator for CMHA Oxford Kathlene Campbell-Conlon says they are accepting a wide range of items. "We do have a fair amount of your regular small, medium, large, but we are looking for clothing for people of larger sizes - so your extra larges, double extra larges. And toys as well - a lot of people will be taking this opportunity to be getting toys for Christmas gifts."
Campbell-Conlon says they have already received a number of donations from people happy to help out, "People who have come in to donate their items have specifically said 'I'm so happy this is going away for free' - that they know we're not charging anyone for their items and that seems to be something that people are really excited about."
The last day to donate is this Thursday, November 12 before 4 p.m. so the volunteers have enough time to sort through the donations. Campbell-Conlon says there is one small thing you can do to help expedite the process. "Before you donate any clothing check through your pockets. Check and make sure that you didn't leave anything in there, there's nothing in your jeans or in your winter coat. A lot of the time we forget things in there. So just for the safety of our volunteers and it just makes things go quicker and smoother." Donations can be dropped off at the CMHA's Peel St. office in Woodstock.
The actual day of the event is Thursday, November 19th at the Harvey Woods Lofts at 18 Vansittart Avenue in Woodstock. It runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
