An AED will be installed in Kintore Optimist Park on Saturday in memory of Andrew Stoddart.
History will be made at Kintore Optimist Park as the soccer field will be equipped with the 1st Automated External Defibrillator.
Rescue 7 is donating the life saving device in the memory of Andrew Stoddart. Andrew died on May 11th of this year while he was playing soccer at the park and it is believed an AED may have saved his life. His uncle Ron Funnell talks about the kind of guy Andrew was. "Andrew was by far, I think, one of the most active 15 year olds that I had the pleasure of knowing, Andrew was greatly involved in all aspects of sporting; he was an avid soccer player, he had become a part of the IDCI Blue Bombers and was well on his way to becoming a star quarterback, he loved spending time with his family and his brother Eric and was very involved in the community."
Andrew's family is trying to raise awareness and funds to have AED units at all sporting games in Ontario. The family will also be making an announcement about the progress of their campaign and updates on the fundraising efforts going forward. Several local dignitaries will be on hand for the AED presentation this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kintore Optimist Park in Kintore. On hand for the presentation will be Rescue 7, who have donated the AED, local dignitaries, politicians and special guests, Township of Zorro Fire Service with Rescue vehicles and Oxford County EMS.
