Pittock Conservation Area and the Woodstock Police Association are teaming up for a free family fishing day.
WOODSTOCK - A yearly tradition will reel kids into Pittock Conservation Area for a day of fun with cops.
The Free Family Fishing Derby is returning to Pittock this year and the Woodstock Police Association is happy to take part once more.
Cops will be helping kids pull in some big catches - last year Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says more than 120 kids showed up, many trying fishing for the very first time.
"Pittock actually has a borrowing program there so you don't have to have tackle and fishing rods - they have lots of supplies. The only thing is if you are coming in with a car load of people they do charge at the gate - it's $13 to get in but the fishing and barbeque and prizes - kids get t-shirts, hats, all for free."
The Canine Team of Constable Dan Skillings and Striker will also be at Pittock for a special demonstration.
It's happening on July 8th from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
