Finding the time to work physical activity into your daily routine will help you keep that healthy resolution for 2015.
OXFORD COUNTY - With the new year comes resolutions of healthier lifestyles.
While there are many health benefits to a more active lifestyle, Public Health Nurse for the County, Lorna Buratto says if you enjoy the activity you are doing, you're more likely to make time for it. "How can you fit it in and make it part of the routine of the day? Whether it's making the decision to walk to work instead of driving to work or going for a walk during your lunch hour or your breaks," Buratto says every little bit counts.
When it comes to a gym membership, Buratto says if you're going to spend the money, be sure to use it. "What is the best time for you to go to the gym and to exercise to get the full benefit of that gym membership. Making it a time that again, fits into the normal course of your day so you're more likely to go."
"The Physical Activity Guide says that we should do 150 minutes a week. That is moderate to vigorous activity so the activity we are doing should increase our heart and breathing rate and we should be doing it in minimum chunks of time of ten minutes."Buratto says while that's the minimum, more activity is always better.
