An upcoming workshop will be examining ways to keep your brain healthy throughout life.
WOODSTOCK - A free event at Southgate Centre will help people of all ages learn about brain health.
The Brain Booster Workshop and Expo will take place on November 30th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Shelley Green, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Society of Oxford, tells Heart FM about some of the speakers at the event.
"We have one of our family support workers talking about the importance of social activity, we have a dietitian talking about diet, we have someone coming to speak from the Alzheimer's Society of Perth about physical activity, and we also have a master's level student talking about stress and mindfulness."
Local organizations like VON and the CMHA will also have displays set up and will answer questions about brain health.
Green says although having a healthy brain can reduce your risk of developing dementia, it is not guaranteed.
"None of what we'll be teaching at this workshop will be a guarantee and we'll be talking to people about that. We do know that healthy lifestyles and keeping your mind challenged, staying socially active, reducing your stress in life is very very important for your brain health."
The Brain Booster Workshop will take place at Southgate Centre on Wednesday November 30th and will run from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
