7 people are now facing charges after multiple police divisions executed search warrants across southwestern Ontario.
WOODSTOCK - Multiple search warrants lead to charges against 7 people.
In August this year, the OPP Community Street Crime Units in the West Region, in partnership with the Woodstock Police Service, began Project Napoli, a response to drug trafficking in Oxford, Brant, Elgin, and Norfolk Counties, along with Woodstock, London, and Waterloo. On November 21st, 10 warrants were executed in Kitchener, Woodstock, and Oxford County by members of multiple police departments.
Police seized 1.6 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 1.3 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 2,500 alprazolam tablets, $20,000 in cash, 5 cell phones and two digital scales. The estimated street value of the drugs is $281,000. As a result, the 7 people are facing a total of 18 charges related to the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
A 44-year-old man from Woodstock has been charged with possession of cocaine for trafficking, a 52-year-old Woodstock woman is also facing a charge of possession of cocaine for trafficking, while a 56-year-old Township of Norwich man is facing one count of breaching conditions.
The two Woodstock residents will appear in Woodstock Court on January 7th, while the Township of Norwich man will answer to his charge in Woodstock on January 9th.
