The name change comes amidst a national reckoning by institutions and teams to drop logos and names that are considered racist. Other major teams to change their names in recent years include the Edmonton Eskimos and Washington Redskins. The Eskimos are now known as the Edmonton Elks, while Washington is just going by Football team for now.
Cleveland spent the past year coming up with this name.
