One paratransit bus will take people to Hickson, Tavistock, Innerkip, Woodstock, and Stratford.
EZT - It's now a lot easier for people to get around the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.
Mayor Phil Schaefer says today marks the first day of the EZTransit pilot project.
"It's a paratransit bus that can carry up to 10 people plus three wheelchairs. It's going to run Wednesday to Saturday and it's got two different routes. One will include a trip to Woodstock and the other will include a trip to Stratford."
Route 1 will stop in Hickson, Tavistock, Innerkip, and Woodstock on Wednesday, Fridays, and every other Saturday that falls on an even day.
Route 2 will take people to Hickson, Innerkip, Tavistock, and Stratford. It will run on Thursdays and every other Saturday that falls on an odd day.
Schaefer says the bus will be on the roads in the early mornings, afternoons, and early evenings.
"The key to it is connections. It's connecting with Woodstock, which will connect to the southern part of Oxford County. It also connects with Stratford which will then connect with Waterloo Region and Perth County as well."
Kids under 13 have to be accompanied by an adult and all rides will be free throughout the pilot project. Schaefer says it will probably last until the end of May, and the riders will be surveyed so Township officials know what they would pay for the service.
