During his interview with Cody and Marcie this morning, Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione talked about a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy that will be brought to City Council this Thursday.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is about to adopt its own Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says it will be brought forward for City Council's approval later this week.
"Diversity and inclusion need to be part of what we're doing as a City. This is that opening door, this is that start, and this is that policy piece that we haven't had yet to say this is part of us. This is part of Woodstock, this is part of City Council and this is part of your City Hall."
Woodstock's transit fares will also be up for discussion during this Thursday's City Council meeting.
Council passed a motion back in February, asking staff to look into the bus fares for other cities, so council can explore the possibility of introducing a reduced bus fare for low-income riders.
After looking over the current prices for Woodstock, Mayor Jerry Acchione says our transit fares are very economic.
"We're $2.75 per ride. An adult can buy an all-you-can ride for a month for $66. Students and seniors are only $53 for a month. Students can buy 12 passes, and I have bought these over the years for my daughters, for $27.50."
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and you can find the full agenda online here. You can also livestream the meeting on the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
During his interview with Cody and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also discussed the following:
- How business is booming in downtown Woodstock.
- His excitement ahead of the Breakfast with the Mayor at South Gate Centre tomorrow morning hosted by the Woodstock District Chamber of Commerce.
- His input on today's Daily Debate, which Easter animal is cuter a baby bunny or a baby chick.
