This week's agenda includes the Transportation Master Plan, the Student Civic Awards of Excellence, and inductees for the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione is away for the next couple of weeks, so Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer will chair the next City Council meeting as the Acting Mayor.
The Transportation Master Plan is one of the big items on the agenda for this Thursday. It has been in the works since 2023 and now it will finally be presented to City Council.
Wismer-Van Meer says consultants studied every single street in the Friendly City and brought forward a list of recommendations for the next 5, 10 and 20 years.
"One of the things that came out of it was limiting driveways on arterial roads to keep traffic flowing. We hear a lot about traffic calming policies and measures that are being put in place, so that's actually one of the policy recommendations that's being put forward in this plan."
She says it also includes a pedestrian crossover policy.
"It outlines the best practices for pedestrian crossovers to improve pedestrian safety. I know that's a huge concern in our community, especially for school zones."

Some members of the community will also be honoured at this week's council meeting. City Council will approve the recipients of the 2025 Student Civic Awards of Excellence and the 2025 inductees for the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame.
Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page. You can also find the meeting agenda online here.
Outside of council, Wismer-Van Meer is also looking forward to Woodstock's Victory Day festivities this weekend and the grand opening of the new splash pad on Finkle Street on May 24th.
