Ontario Premier Doug Ford called into Heart FM this morning for an exclusive interview. He talked about testing at Toyota and Cami, social gatherings, cheesecake and so much more.
ONTARIO - Premier Doug Ford joined Heart FM for an exclusive interview today.
He talked about the need for more testing in our region and specifically said he wants to see testing at places like CAMI and Toyota.
"We are going to be reaching out to sectors right across Ontario, Woodstock being one, we want to target large companies, be it the Toyota Plant or other automotive plants, we have thousands of people there that can tested. Manufacturing, the meat and chicken poultry processing plants, along with the truckers and a wide range of people, that gives us a better handle on it but we will be ramping up next week in a big way."
Premier Ford says closing the schools was a tough decision and admits, school will look differently in the fall.
"We are just all praying that we will see a decline, what we are concerned about, I think the whole world is concerned about is a second wave, especially during flu season in September, October and November. I can tell the people of Ontario, that we are so much better equipped as a Province, as a country to handle the second wave."
He also couldn't offer an exact date on when the Province might lift measures on social gatherings.
"I'm really hoping guys that we can do that, as the Chief Medical Officer said as he went to visit his grandchildren, the number one rule, as we say the golden rule, just keep the social distancing, keep 2 metres apart. I know it is so hard, you haven't seen your parents or your kids and you want to hug them. Until we see more positive numbers in the decline, I would just practice social distancing as much as possible. I just can't wait to have that campfire and sit around with friends and family, that is what we all miss."
The Premier also talked about the public inquiry into Long Term Care Homes and what needs to happen for stage 2 of reopening the economy. The Premier also talked about his famous cheesecake and stores running out of ingredients after his video.
