Ontario’s very first Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Michael Tibollo joined Heart FM today to break down the spending in the budget as it relates to mental health and addictions.
ONTARIO - The Ontario Budget included $525 million dollars for mental and health and addictions in 2021.
Ontario’s very first Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Michael Tibollo joined Heart FM today to break down the spending as it relates to mental health and addictions. In the interview he discusses the following:
- Mental health support for farmers, with 50% reporting being at least moderately stressed right now.
- A pilot project that will bring mobile health units to 4 regions in the Province of Ontario. The projects will include a nurse practioner and social workers that will travel to homes in rural areas of the Province.
- Minister Tibollo states that mental health and addictions was reaching pandemic levels in Ontario before COVID-19 and things have only gotten worse with COVID-19.
- Mental Health support for students and women. Studies have shown women are having a harder time with their mental health during the pandemic, specifically working mothers, who are juggling massive workloads right now.
- The importance of talking about mental health and getting rid of the stigma surrounding mental health.
