The agenda for this Thursday's council meeting includes a new agreement with the UTRCA and a potential start to a boundary adjustment with Norwich Township.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is going to explore the possibility of a boundary adjustment with Norwich Township.
Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione says it will focus on Pattullo Ave.
"With the construction and the new industrial/commercial properties going to the east of Highway 59, we've got to align the road because it's too close to Highway 401 and they're worried about commercial traffic. So it's got to go more south, the entranceway onto Highway 59."
This is still in the very early stages. Woodstock Council will be asked to direct staff to start the public consultation process during this Thursday's meeting and Norwich Township Council will have a motion to do the same thing during its meeting tomorrow morning.
During this Thursday's meeting, Woodstock City Council is also expected to sign off on the new agreement with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA). Acchione says City employees will now handle the maintenance for the Pittock Conservation Area Day Use Area.
"The City of Woodstock is now going to make sure we keep everything trimmed and cut grass. We were getting a lot of complaints along roadways and things like that."
The agreement also covers the Pittock Dam deck crossing and South Shore of Pittock Reservoir.
Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page. You can also find the meeting agenda online here.
During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also discussed the following:
- His experience attending and being one of the judges for Woodstock Ribfest.
- How Dr. Elizabeth Poskitt will be attending this Thursday's meeting. She's a former Mayor and current Councillor for Woodstock-Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom.
- The status of the proposed Farhi development for the site of the old Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food building in the north end of the city.
- His thoughts on the Heart FM Daily Debate. Did you collect anything when you were a kid? If so, do you still have that collection today?
