The hospitals in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll are working towards full integration.
TILLSONBURG/INGERSOLL - Some big news is coming from a pair of hospitals in Oxford County.
Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll will become one under an integrated organization. Integrated President and CEO of both hospitals, Nadia Facca explains what that will look like.
"This means that the Board of Directors for each hospital has voluntarily decided they want to pursue the next step in our journey of being partners, which is a full integration. The hospitals have already had success over the years with integrating several roles, including my own, as I am the Integrated CEO of both hospitals."
Facca says that multiple hospital teams and team members are already in integrated roles, and in the future collective agreements will be respected - any changes will go through union leaders and normal labour relations negotiations. She adds that non-union workers will also have the opportunity to be involved in conversations regarding their working conditions, and changes would not come until consultation is completed.
When the full integration takes place, Facca says there will be no change to the names of each hospital. "We have committed to retaining the names of each hospital site. So, as we said Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll, those names will stay."
Facca adds that full integration will help sustain the two small hospitals and help have a stronger rural voice at planning tables.
