Operation Sharing's Inn Out of the Cold program is set to close for the season at the end of the week.
WOODSTOCK - April 3 will be the last night residents will be able to use the services of Inn Out of the Cold this season.
Coordinator Paul Arsenault says they have been able to help many people since they opened for the season in November.
"We've had 59 different guests, 9 of them have been women which is a little up this year. We have had more women then we have had in the past. Over 600 bed spaces used. We have been able also to transition 10 people in to independent living which is up a little bit. We are pretty happy about that."
As the end of the season draws near, Arsenault says they are doing their best to transition people into their own places, "however if there are people that don't have accommodation, we can provide them with transportation to London or Kitchener where there are year round shelters. We try not to do that. We like to have people placed here in the County but sometimes situations are what they are."
Arsenault says people in the community are having a very hard time finding affordable accommodations in Oxford County.
Arsenault says just like past years, more people have been coming to the shelter the past month.
Arsenault says often times people will come into the shelter as a way to save up money in hopes of being able to find affordable housing by the time the season is over.
