A guided tour of the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery will highlight the sacrifice made by local veterans in WWI
INGERSOLL - The Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum is offering a guided tour of the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery to honour the men and women who gave their lives in the first world war.
At least 28 veterans of World War I who made it home are buried in the Veterans' Plot and they all have a unique story to tell. Curator of the Museum Scott Gillies tells Heart FM they will be providing the people who come with some history on the men who were lucky enough to make it home after the Great War.
"We will look at the final resting places of the men who served in the First World War and were fortunate enough to return home, and some were able to pick up their lives where they left off before the war while others may have suffered their own personal hell because of the fact that they survived the War and possibly suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."
The guided tour starts at 2 p.m on Saturday at the Veterans' Plot inside the main gates of the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery. This is just one of the 100 events happening for Oxford Remembers to commemorate the First World War.
