INGERSOLL - Some homeowners in Ingersoll are being asked to pay for the work done in 2013 to provide municipal water and wastewater services.
The areas impacted include Cedar, Clark, Elm, Pine and Wellington Streets along with Kirwin Drive and Royland Crescent in Ingersoll. Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey says residents will have a few options to pay the County. "They are able to pay it up front totally, they can pay it with their taxes, they can also take a time frame so each year they pay a certain amount, and I believe under certain stressful cases they can waive the cost right now if it's felt the County is able to that until a time when your property is sold."
Comiskey says if anyone has a problem with the dollars they are presenting on the invoice to contact the County and they will work with you to help deal with the stress of the invoice cost. The total cost of installing sanitary sewer and water mains in the area was $1.2 million. Costs for homeowners is based on connections, if you have empty lots on a property then those lot's will also be charged and the cost will be equally spread out over the homes that our involved.
Comiskey did say " We're sorry that this burden is placed upon the residents, it's just the understanding that we have to have for our citizens the availability of water and waste water connections and the cost is high, we certainly do our best when the jobs are quoted that we keep the costs as low as we possibly can and we apologize for the situation right now that the cost is being placed on the residents."
