The Town of Ingersoll has called for a special council meeting as they prepare to apply for new Federal and Provincial funding.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll is hoping to be the first in line for new Federal and Provincial Funding to build a new Community Centre.
Mayor Ted Comiskey and Deputy Mayor Freeman along with Councillor Rick Eus were at the AMO Conference this week. At the conference Premier Doug Ford announced access to $1 Billion in funding for important local projects when the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program opens.
Applications start on September 3rd and it is a tight timeline. Mayor Comiskey says it is a timeline the Town should be able to complete.
“I was happy to hear the Premier’s announcement. Residents of Ingersoll have needed a new recreation complex but we also
need help in funding and I am confident we will be successful in our application.”
The Town anticipated this announcement and at its last meeting, Council passed a resolution to schedule a special meeting of council to begin discussions on the finalization of the initial components to be developed in phase one of a multi-use
recreational facility.
Council had previously received input from an Ad hoc committee regarding what potential uses could be included in a multi-use recreation facility. Council now has to decide what uses will be included in this phase of the development.
The CAO said “the application will be submitted for this phase of the Multi-use recreation facility and will be designed in such a manner to prepare for future expansion and inclusion of other uses, such as a second ice-pad.”
Council of the Town of Ingersoll will hold a special meeting Monday, August 26, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The meeting will be open to the public.
