An industry leader in retail space design will soon call Woodstock home. Miller Zell have leased close to 81,000 square feet of space at the IDI building on Commerce Way. Vice President of Business Development Doug Foley says Miller Zell have seen an increase in their Canadian market business and needed room to expand. "Our new facility is literally located at the intersection of two of Canada's most important transportation routes, Highways 401 and 403 and in close proximity to several key US-Canada border crossings". Foley said that Woodstock was a "natural choice" for the company. The Atlanta-based company first broke into the Canadian market in 1996 when Walmart moved north of the border, designing their retails outlets. According to the company, their Friendly City location will be used for light manufacturing, assembly, warehousing and customer service as well as installation coordination. They expect to have roughly 35 employees at the facility. In the release, Mayor Pat Sobeski says "we are pleased to see such a unique business become part of our community. Miller Zell is a well respected company and is indicative of Woodstock's continued effort to diversify the local economy". They expect to open their operations some time this month. Miller Zell is the first tenant at the Industrial Developments International building. Woodstock Business Development Commissioner Len Magyar says "when IDI came to Woodstock we knew they would attract quality tent ants into their highly visible buildings, and that is just what they have done".
