Oxford County Archives is commemorating the 100 year anniversary of World War 1 with a new book.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Archives is ready to launch their new book chronicling local memorials and cenotaphs.
Honouring Oxford tells the stories of our local men and women who fought in the first two World Wars. County Archivist Liz Mayville says a lot of work has gone into this book.
"It has been a multi year project, we actually started work on it about 5 years ago. We have been doing research, hours upon hours of looking through newspaper micro film, of course going out and taking the photographs and then a lot of time on the library archives Canada web site looking at the WW1 adaptation papers."
Mayville says they did Honouring Oxford as part of Oxford Remembers the Great War for the 100th anniversary of World War 1.
"The book talks about the various memorials and cenotaphs that were erected across Oxford County after World War 1 and it also highlights the lives and achievements of the men who were listed on some of those monuments."
The book launch and Open House is happening November 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Oxford County Archives on Light Street. You can find more information online here.
