Oxford OPP will be conducting several RIDE programs over the next couple of weeks, so make sure you think before you drink this holiday season.
RIDE programs are on the schedule this holiday season for Oxford OPP in an effort to help keep the public safe from drunk drivers.
Constable Stacy Culbert says that they will be actively performing stopping vehicles throughout the county.
"We're going to be actively performing several ride checks within the county. We want them to be on their best behaviour especially when getting behind a vehicle and we want to make sure that they're aware that you have to make sure you have a sober driver."
OPP would like to remind everyone to be prepared when going out for drinks by planning a walk route, arranging a ride with a designated driver or bringing enough cash for a cab.
Culbert says there are serious consequences for drunk driving.
"Well what we have for sure at the top of the list would be getting an impaired driving charge or an over 80, so you've had too much alcohol in your system to be driving legally. That would result in a roadside arrest."
OPP would like everyone to have a happy and safe holiday season.
