The Town of Hickson won 50 thousand dollars in the Here's to Hometown contest.
HICKSON - The town of Hickson was named the winner of the Pioneer Seeds Here's to Hometown Giveaway.
The town was among four finalists before being awarded with $50,000.00 earlier today.
Mike Van Boekel and his family created the video, showcasing what the town has to offer. He says they will use the money to invest into a number of charities and local organizations.
"Hickson School will benefit, as well as Oxford County Mental Health Association, the Hickson Lions Club, the Hickson local Fire Department and also to our local ball park where we host a lot of charity events, just our local field of dreams."
He adds it's a great way to give back to the community.
"I think it's really good, especially around the community. There's a few things that we've done without for way too long and there's also some new things that they have started."
The town of Hickson was one of the 39 videos submitted to Pioneer Sands and they were selected among the four finalists late last year.
