Market Theatre will be rocking on Friday night in Woodstock with the Stage for Change concert.
WOODSTOCK - Stage for Change is coming to Market Theatre in Woodstock on Friday.
The free concert is put on by the Oxford Drug Awareness committee and the POSSIBLE Campaign. Co-Chair of the Committee Trevor McLennan says the concert celebrates recovery from addictions.
"We want to celebrate people who have overcome addictions and are living in recovery, because addiction still has an incredible stigma attached to it, whether you currently living with an addiction or you are in recovery."
McLennan says this is the 4th time they have brought the Stage for Change to Woodstock and it is a great event to raise awareness.
"Everyone knows someone who is living with an addiction or is living in recovery, you may not know that you do because of the stigma attached to it. We don't walk down the street talking about being in recovery or talk about living with an addiction, it is something that we keep to ourselves, so you may be affected and have no idea what is really going on. Stage for Change is that opportunity to say listen, good for you, because it really is one of the most difficult things to overcome and it's an opportunity to celebrate that and the work that people do."
Abby Stewart, Aaron Allen and Nikki James will be performing starting at 6 p.m.
The Acoustic Cafe is also returning this year on Friday. The Acoustic Cafe is a celebration of the amazing talents that exist in Oxford County. The Acoustic Cafe begins at 2pm in Museum Square in Downtown Woodstock. Everyone is encouraged to drop in throughout the afternoon for the Acoustic Cafe and stay for Stage for Change at the theatre afterward.
