One woman in Woodstock is heading to the Philippines for a mission trip, performing dental treatment for less privileged children.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock resident will be going on a mission trip to help children in the Philippines.
Grace Carbilledo-Vincent is a retired dentist and immediate past president of the Rotary Club for Woodstock-Oxford.
While on the trip, she'll be performing dental treatment for less privileged children, along with providing them with clothes and shoes donated by Giant Tiger in Woodstock.
"As a dentist, I'll be visiting a clinic but at the same time I'll be doing some treatments for the less privileged children, especially the children that live in the shanties and doesn't have any resources where they can have the dental treatment. I'll be bringing some stuff from here, which is donated by the Giant Tiger and some of the dental supplies I'll be getting from the nurse in Stratford from the Rotary Medical Depot. And I'll be distributing those clothes, shoes and t-shirts for the children, and the dental supplies I'll be using them for my treatment and my service to those less privileged children."
Carbilledo-Vincent is originally from the Philippines and she has gone on mission trips to the Philippines in the past. During this trip, she'll be travelling to Cebu City, along with other provinces.
She says it's great to see the children's reaction.
"It's really amazing. Some would hug you so tight that you could not even breathe anymore. The beautiful smiles on their faces after you treat them and the gratitude that the family would show and they would bring anything like fruits or whatever that they have, the little things that they have, they will give it to you as a gift or as an offering for your service."
Carbilledo-Vincent left for the Philippines this past weekend.
