Edith Heleniak has is running for Oxford LCDSB trustee in the upcoming Municipal Election.
She is a long standing parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Tillsonburg and has been married to her husband Stan Heleniak for 23 years. Together they have two kids, Rachael and Andrew, who're both attending Queens University in Kingston.
Heleniak has volunteered with her local Catholic school community and has devoted herself into serving provincially with OAPCE (Ontario Association of Parents in Catholic Education).
Heleniak says she learned more about the Catholic Education system from the perspective of a parent, and through many hardships, she found success socially and spiritually.
"Sitting on the boundary of Oxford and Norfolk County, I been involved with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk County District School Board for over 17 years as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Regional Parent Involvement Committee. I further represented Catholic values and parents by serving as a Director for the Ontario Association of Parents and Catholic Education for 6 years. Through this experience I worked at the provincial level alongside many distinguished partners such as Bishops, Trustees, Ministry of Education, Institute of Catholic Education and many more."
Heleniak is currently the President of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).
"This has played a momentous role in my willpower in and is testament to my ability to advocate for parents and better standards of Catholic Education."
She explains why she wants to be the school board trustee for Oxford.
"I'm running for Trustee to continue my role in Christian stewardship,and to ensure that students physicle and mental well-being are liik after.Studend education is a my priority,and i strongly belive in improving and preserving catholic education so we,and the current generations,can pass on their gifts, values, culture and traditions forward. Please give me a chance to speak on your behave ,working together we will invest in our kids future."
