OXFORD / BRANT - The region has been warned for days of a heat wave, and today it has arrived, prompting Environment Canada to issue a Heat Warning.
Daytime temperatures in the low to mid thirties with humidex values of 40 or higher are expected today and again on Saturday, with little to no relief to come until Sunday.
Extreme heat affects everyone, however, the risks of heat related illness are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Be sure to stay hydrated today, and if you can, stay inside to remain cool. Animals are also impacted by the heat be sure to provide a cool space for your pets and keep them hydrated as well.
