Another scorching hot day across the region, with possible showers on the way to provide relief.
BRANT / OXFORD - It is day two for this heat event across the region.
Temperatures today will reach 30 or 31 degrees Celsius across the region in a hot and humid tropical air mass. Humidex values will reach the upper thirties to near 40 this afternoon.
Be extra cautious as hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
Relief hopefully will come with a cold front with showers and thunderstorms expecting to move through the region tonight.
Extreme heat can have negative affects on people, however, the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Be sure to never leave a pet or a person inside of a parked vehicle.
If you work outdoors, it is important to take breaks in a cool place and stay hydrated.
