A family discovered they were eligible for a Habitat for Humanity home while investigating volunteer opportunities.
TILLSONBURG - Habitat for Humanity has selected a deserving family for the next build in Tillsonburg.
The organization is pleased to announce they will be working with the Propper family on the next build.
Sharon Brennan, General Manger of Partnerships and Programs, tells Heart FM the family came across the notion of home ownership through Habitat while looking for ways to give back to the community.
"They were actually going to volunteer for Habitat and they were looking at a poster about Habitat for Humanity and on that poster there was actually information about home ownership as well and so as they were pursuing the idea about volunteering they found that that they could actually qualify."
Brennan is excited to build the home for the family, but now the organization is asking the community for help finding land.
"They can call us if they know about land. We'd love to hear from the community because one of our major road blocks is finding land sometimes - and affordable land because we want to be able to build as affordably as possible for this family."
