Five time Stanley Cup Champion Guy Lafleur has passed away at the age of 70.
MONTREAL - A Canadian hockey legend has passed away.
Guy Lafleur has passed away at the age of 70. His family announced the sad news on social media this morning. Lafleur's cause of death was not immediately known, he had battled lung cancer for the past few years.
Lafleur won five Stanley Cup Championships during his 14 seasons with the Montreal Canadians between 1971 and 1985. Lafleur also played for the New York Rangers from 1988 to 1989 and the Quebec Nordiques from 1989 to 1991.
Lafleur also won several awards throughout his NHL career including three Art Ross Trophies and two Hart Trophies. He also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP for the 1977 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
