Three people making strides when it comes to energy and the environment will be speaking at the Future Oxford Expo
The Future Oxford team has lined up three impressive guest speakers for the Expo coming up in April.
Member of the Future Oxford Partnership Jay Heaman talks about one of the guest speakers Milfred Hammerbacher who is the CEO of s2e Technologies Inc.
"He is presently working on a project in the west part of London that really starts to build out the concept of smart grid but also with the tie back to community and social aspects of developing renewable energy."
Joining Hammerbacher at the expo this year is Doug Yates who is the director of Environment and Energy with GM Canada.
"We are really excited bout Yates presentation because GM covers so many aspects of what we are trying to accomplish with the partnership. For example with Zero Waste, both General Motors and CAMI are at about 96 percent diversion to the landfill so they are doing a lot of recycling and reduction. On the transportation piece, GM just recently announced 100 percent renewable energy by 2050 for all of their facilities worldwide, so that is a significant step forward."
Rounding out the speakers is Dr. Chih C. Chao who is trained as a chemical and environmental engineer.
New for 2017 is the Community Futures Oxford Student Competition. The Dragon’s Den styled competition will bring together secondary school student finalists to compete on stage for an $800 grand prize donated by Community Futures Oxford.
The Future Oxford Expo is happening on April 20th.
