Operation Sharing in Oxford is setting an example for other counties. Representatives from Grey County were in Woodstock on Tuesday to learn more about how the operation runs and how it gains support. Mayor of Owen Sound Deb Haswell also came away impressed. "It's an incredible program. We're learning so much. It's very mature, a lot of the elements are in place. I think this is a great opportunity for some of the church leaders that have joined us to also see how they can bring their community together and provide and incredible network of service." Director of Social Services in Grey County Barb Fedy tells Heart FM. "We have a large contingency that has come down today. And I think some of that is excitement of hearing about what programs have been operated here over the years, looking at what we do have back home, determining what our needs are, and where we can go from here. This is a great example for us to follow." Manager of Social Services for Oxford County Paul Beaton says it's among the great not-for-profit organizations local citizens have as support. "Operation Sharing is a top notch organization to go along with the Salvation Army, many of the not-for-profit groups that support people in Oxford." Mayor Haswell pointed out that Grey County has similarities to Woodstock and Oxford County, as they have Owen Sound as a city, and then pockets of rural villages out in Grey County.
