Norwich Council is supporting some bio gas projects and a rooftop solar project in the township.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - A few green energy projects have the stamp of approval from Norwich Township.
DLS Biogas came to council to talk about three on-farm biogas projects. The bio gas projects will happen with two on Quaker Street and one on Beaconsfield. Council also approved an application for a rooftop solar project on Quaker Street.
CAO of the Township Kyle Kruger explains why the companies come to council first.
"As part of the FIT program, one of the areas that an applicant can obtain points is if they have local support from their local council for their particular project."
Kruger says council normally does support these green energy projects.
"Council over the years has asked about an option that would basically be what I would call a blanket approval. So far the Township has opted to have each individual come forward so there is a chance for some review to see if there is something about an application that might cause some concern."
