The provincial government gave funding to the Ingersoll 50+ Activity Centre, helping them further their programs.
INGERSOLL - Ingersoll's 50 plus Activity Centre has received provincial funding.
A total of $21,400 has been given as a seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which was used to educate new fitness instructors, as well as provide professional development to current instructors. The money also helped buy new equipment, and pave the way for new fitness programs to be offered to the local 50 plus community at affordable rates. Some of the programs that will be coming to the Centre include, an aerobic style step class, as well as barbell sets that will allow the Centre to introduce a new beginner weight training class.
Oxford County MPP, Ernie Hardeman says how important it is to have this funding come to Ingersoll.
"I want to congratulate the Ingersoll 50+ Activity Centre on receiving this well-deserved grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation” This funding will help expand fitness programming and promote healthy, active living for older adults in our community. It’s great to see support for initiatives that keep people connected, engaged, and thriving."
Centre Program Coordinator, Robin Goudreault shares her thoughts about the money.
"The funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has granted us the opportunity to introduce new classes aimed at engaging community members aged 50 and over, encouraging them to maintain their fitness and health."
The Ingersoll 50+ Activity Centre has been part of the Ingersoll Community for 30 years. The lives of older adults have been enhanced by the Centre, with the meaningful programs and services that are provided to the community. The programs and services offered at the Centre are to help keep seniors and adults with disabilities safe and independent in their own homes.
